The WEN 6318 6 Amp Heavy Duty Belt Sander is a heavy duty sander measuring in at 3 x18-inches. It runs on a 6-Amp motor and is capable of spinning the belt at 820 feet per minute – this makes is so that you can quickly and easily remove material. There’s a front roller on it that reaches out pas the top, so the sander can reach the tightest of spots.
Main Features
When we first discovered the WEN 6318 6 Amp Heavy Duty Belt Sander, it was the main features that really caught our attention (of course) – that and the good customer reviews (we’ll get to that a bit later). Let’s take a look at the main features:
Dust Bag – With this sander, you will receive a detachable dust bag. If you have ever worked with power tools like sanders, you probably know how annoying the dust can get. In this case, WEN obviously thought about the aggravating cleanup afterwards and decided to give their users a helping hand. The dust bag is detachable, which does a good job at minimizing clean-up.
Motor – Responsible for rotating the bet, there’s a 6-amp motor in this belt sander. It can turn the belt at over 13 feet per second. Looking at those stats, this is obviously a heavy duty power tool, which is definitely something most of us need in our woodworking shop.
Compact Design – The compact design is a major bonus. We don’t know how you feel about it, but personally, we don’t like working with those heavy, bulky tools. At the end of the day, we feel as if we were out lifting weights all day and that is certainly not a good feeling. Luckily, this sander is light in weight and compact in design. It only weight 5 and a half pounds, which is decent for a heavy duty power tool like this one.
Lock – When it comes to safety, WEN didn’t blink an eye. Including a lock-in safety was a great idea. This feature allows you to continuously sand, without having to continuously hold the trigger down.
Warranty – All of this is backed by a two-year warranty. This means if something goes wrong with the tool, it may be able to be replaced.
Reviews
At the time of writing this review, on Amazon, there were a total of 134 reviewers giving this sander 4.3 stars out of a possible 5.0 stars. Looking through the reviews, and seeing phrases like “very pleased,” it’s obvious that most people are happy with the product. There was one individual that had problems tightening the sanding belt on the wheels, but we can’t find anyone else who experienced these issues.
Conclusion
Point blank, if you’re currently looking for a sander, we don’t think you can go wrong with the WEN 6318 6 Amp Heavy Duty Belt Sander. The price tag is affordable and the quality is high – that is something we really like seeing.
